Was wondering if you could clarify how the EFAM Patch works. From my understanding, which is known to be way off allot of time, if your carying a full 28 stingers and fire 8 of the 16 from the EFAMs and the drop your EFAMs, then only 4 of the internal stingers would be live. Atleast that's the way it was explained to me the other day.

Hi RAB,
Some of the original versions of AE for v.15 did in fact cause an issue for players that were using the bug who: fired a few stingers, and then dropped there efams(maybe to go legit who knows). This may be the case your eluding to as I’m sure some servers may be using v15 and old version of AE. This was resolved ( by popular vote) in the later versions of AE by rendering ALL missiles useless for any player that used the efam bug. The efam patch that is being utilized here was based on that concept.

Any player that uses the efam bug will have a lock stock and barrel load of dead pickles!!! That includes hydras, stingers and hellfire’s. :comeandgetsome.gif:

Unless Im :stupid2: The sidewinder hack is a server side only hack. From what I know of how the game works this is the only way I can imagine it being done. That said, if it is in fact not only limited to a server hack, I dont really think I could do much about it as I dont have access to everyone's pc. So if you're flying with someone that is using it I would suggest you either run and hide or change servers. I could be wrong about this, but I have yet to see anyone with enough ability to do this in a server that they aren't serving/playing or serving/joining. Until somebody with more knowledge of the inner workings of the game steps up to the plate and proves me wrong, I'm sticking with 'server side hack, fly in a clean house!' and moving on...

I've seen the sidewinder hack myself. And they can do it in any server.

There is something the server can do to fix this hack. But it doesn't fix the unlimited stingers. The thing that I am having problems with is the unlimited health and spawn where you die thing.

I did get to talk to master x last night and wish to thank him for for getting me up to speed with what information he had on this issue. I also want to say thank you very much to RAB for the hours (yes HOURS!!) he dedicated his computer and time to helping me, RAB I hope you were not late for work today.
I now have enough information about whats happening, and am working on it.

How does this Host Patch differ from the Host Manager? Does it use 8h auto punt or auto explode? And how does it handle the effam bug? I can understand if you don't want to address this in an open forum so You can E-mail me if you'd rather not address it here. Just courious to find out if this or the Host Manager we are using now will be the best for us. Thanks

Host Manager is a program that I'm not sure if it was Avenger or the C4GET designed. It used to be offered on CPD but not anymore. Not sure why. It Addresses the Effam bug by making a pilot with no effams only have haft the stingers that are good and the other half are nurfs. If you accidently spawn with no effams you must refarp and get effams if you want 28 good stingers. It also checks for 8h and if you are your health is knocked down to one cannon round to kill you. It also has a 1400 foot ceiling hight that can be increased to higher ceiling (server choice) and you will Auto explode if higher than ceiling allowed in server. And it automatically enters puntcrc and netdelays for the server. It also has an adjustable spawn timer (0-4 seconds) to cut down on invisable pilots. It also let's you change Name of server countr and a passwords without taking server down. Oh yeah you can also choose what maps and in what order you want to serve them in. If it was lost in the changes to the CPD server I have about all the downloads ever offered here and a couple of hard drives that I can send. I haven't offered because I didn't know if the purpose for not being offered anymore was CPD or Avenger's and I didn't want to offer one of his applications if he took them off himself. We used to have it offered, on our website but things happened so rapidly when several left C4 that we were right in the middle of a webserver change and we at CFS don't have anyone that does websites so we are having on of our pilots trained so we can get the changes complete and get it back to where it was a year ago. Hopefully before the end of the year we will back in business. If it was CPD and not Avenger then if you want many of these files to load back up if you'll contact me I'll check though my files and send to you.

Thanks for the info. Ive been outa the loop for almost 4 years so catch up time indeed. This app (which I am about to rename) if you take a look in the readme file with the download, addresses the 8h and efam issues. It does so by doing the following.

If a player enters at 8h instead of 3h there health it set to 3h as it is suppose to be. They also will loose the last 499 cannon rounds giving them only the first 500 rounds live as a 3h player would have.

The efam slots and the bay slots are different locations but in code they are mixed together that is why you got half "nurfs", the wrong slots are being changed. This app will look to see if you have efams if you dont it will check only the missle slots housed in the efams and if there are rounds there it will "nurf" them but not touch the bay slots, giving you the correct number of live missles in the correct place. If you have efams it will not modify your load out.
As for the rest of what was built into the "host manager" I have code and apps for everyone of them plus more. My intention as it was in the begining is to have two seperate app's one that corrects game issues and one that provides game perks. That will help to make the app doing the corrections more reliable and stable. The corrective app is at the moment my first and foremost goal in finishing, as having a few perks while nice is usless until ew clean up the game.
I do have for the future a ton of addon apps to get these perks back but for now Im taking out the trash first.

I do have it on our server. One thing is how do you know it is working. I went in 8h to test and I noticed nothing unusal. My life still showed 100%. So the problem I'm going to have is convincing the squad it is working. It doesn't do net delays and punt crc, and I'm just curious how I can persuade them to switch to it. Blue you and probably Inso know Rotor 6 and I'm going to have to convince him this is doing as well as the host manager Avenger designed does. Granted it isn't a perfect manager but it tells if one is 8h and knocks their health down where they can't even fly their comanche, and you do see the punt crc and netdelay coming up. I am all for a better application but I'm stuck with convincing a squad this is better. Help me to understand this more. There is nothing to do but turn it on and minimize. Since I'm the only one that knows anything about serving on remote servers it is really extremely hard for me to explain to them. I am going to run it and see what happens but I hope you can understand my dilemma. The men in the whole squad pays the server bill so I have 20 pilots to please plus the whole c4 community since the server list have shrank so much. They are depending on me to keep everything running smooth and I think that this patch will cause less lag since it doesn't display text, But they are gonna want proof that someone is not 8h and as far as they can tell while flying they think nothing is running. I have even had issues with other pilots accusing ours with the host manager text running. Like I said I am running it but I may need help to explain to the boss how this works LOL. Thanks and don't think I'm complaining because I'm not if any of you have ran a squad server you know how it is. I appreciate everything ya'll are doing for C4.

We got it on the SAI server now, seems to be working ok, if a player goes in easy or 8h it puts him to about 1/3 health, doing every thing Inso said it would.

You'll know its running by the icon in your task tray(by the clock). Is a C4 icon at the moment. No icon, umm it isn’t running.
Im all for making it right and making it better and making it do what everyone needs it to do. But the bottom line is if no one uses it. I wont know what’s wrong with it. You think pleasing 20 is fun lol, try simulating every possible situation that could come up in a game of 16 people on any connection type on any OS with any hardware....umm by yourself! LMAO :help: The first time I did this it was a little easier as there were 60+ ppl playing through out the day and I could easily find 8-10 ppl that would join a server and test it at a moments notice, that made working the kinks out much faster and easier on everyone. As you said the list has shrunk so Im kind of forced to test all this on my own until I post a download. Once it's up there I need ppl to use it, test it and beat it up. Tell me what’s wrong with it and be specific in the details of what was going on when it puked. Is this fast? Hell no! Is it fun? Not a chance! Will you have to give up some game time and deal with a little grief? Yup! But everyone that went through all the crap the first time will tell you that when it was over the work was worth every bit of the effort as we got our game back!!!!! Ask your squad if they would prefer to deal with some of it now, in return for a clean match in the near future, or not deal with it at all and leave the matches as they are? I dont think anyone playing(well lol of the ones were worried about) want it the way it is. I am sorry if this sounds like a rant, it isnt, so please dont take it as one. Im sure everyone is weary of the new app, and doesn’t like the fact that it isn’t perfect on day one of roll out, it doesn’t have any of the same bells and whistles. So why the hell would we use it? lol well. What you don’t know is what I haven’t told you, that's the point Blue made to me. I didn’t want to spill too many beans at once and give false hope so I kept my mouth shut.
So here is where were at.
What you already know.....
8h is patched
efam bug is patched
server will post to nova with patch under game type so you know going in which servers are running it.
What I have done below I will release in stages once what is made available is tested and has had it’s all issues resolved. That means before I release more patches I have to know that ones that are already out there are working correctly!!! It is easier to trouble shoot one or two issues at a time rather then the whole ball of wax at once.(I need test pilots! And test servers at every step)..................
1)
This app will not run on a server that is using ANY ammo hack or health hack, which gives unlimited ammo and or health to other players joining that are also running it. (so if you don’t see the patch listed in the game type your on your own! But if you do it will most likely be a clean server)
This is ready for release and testing….
2)
The use of any weapon except cannons, hydra’s, stinger’s and hellfire’s in all games except co-op’s has been dealt with and patched.
This is ready for release and testing….
3)
Replacing cannon rounds for any other ammo. Is patched but has issues to deal with.
Still working out issues but nearing the point of needing to be tested in an active server(less then a week)
4)
The use of the “Tactical Display”
Is being looked at, I have focused all recent time and effort to 1 -3 but will be working on this once those are complete.
5)
Splash damage double death, one kill/one suicide.
I started on this back when v20 released, but when I left I stopped working on it. I made some progress with it then and am confident that I can fix it to a point that will be acceptable. It has taken a back seat at the moment to resolving the cheating issues first.
These are the things I know about and am working on. If there are other issues that need to be resolved I need to know about them and I will do my best to fix them.
Once the cheating issues are finished, at that point I will work on apps that will give everyone back the bells and whistles that were lost switching as well as some new one’s to add too them.
To those that have helped thank you very much it will take the community to make this work.
To those asking what you can do to help. If you know of any other issues to deal with please let me know either here/pm/ICQ/email. If you see I have an open testing server up join it and fly for a few minutes of your gaming time. If you have the connection and hardware download the app use it, beat the living crap out of it. If it puke’s on you don’t stop!! Come in here with as many details as you can and let me know about it, once I’ve dealt with it, do it again until it works the way its suppose to.
If you have the patience we can get this game back!!

I can see your point and understand your problem well about you having to do the testing yourself. Communication seems to be a community wide issue. And we don't have many servers anymore to get a good idea in a short period.
Tell me can I serve on one of my systems here at home with a router and play from another without it effecting the host patch? I know that that was an issue with the one we use now. It had to be a serve only even if you fly a different computer because the program saw it as serve and play since it was on the same connection.
I will do some testing today and let you know how our folks like it. I one main thing I miss with this program is the ability to change the serving order of the maps. I would like to see the completed patch contain that option.

When I ran my server I serverd off one PC and played on another from the same router. I never had any issues with the Server Manager. I remember talking to Rotor6 about it and he said with that set up you could get by the 8H Auto Punt with that set up. I don't know if it because of my router set up or what but when I tested that it the 8HAP still worked. Other than that I don't think there was any other issues with running it behind the same router you play on.

You have an advantage if you are serving and playing on the same line, your host is sitting next to you. And Inso what about the /td thing, how does it look for a fix for that? Not getting in a hurry and like to thank you for what you are doing.

But if you would have gone in 8h to test you would find out that it would not kick your health down because it was thinking that you were the server and it will not work correctly. It will warn that you are 8h but it would not knock your life to 1 cannon hit death. I discussed this with Avenger at the time and he said it was not designed to work except on a truely dedicated line because it would always read you as actually serving and playing if you shared the same internet connection. It looked as though it was working perfectly but if you test it you will find out different according to Avenger. I always test every way I can to make sure it is working as it is suppose to. If you are on DSL and not cable I suppose you may get by since you can have different IP's like getting by the banned.txt.

The host patch seems to perform pretty well for the 8h. I tested several time with the aide of Ghost =fun=. It took Ghost 4 stingers and a couple of cannon rounds to kill me each time opposed to 3 stingers each time for me to kill him at 3h so it is pretty close after the third hit your comanche shakes like a Yugo LOL. So you are pretty much toast unless you have a farp close by. of course that was with me hovering at 200 agl. In a battle the 8h may have just a slight advantage over the 3h because of the extra stinger and a couple of cannon rounds it takes to get the kill. As far as the Effam issue, I don't know how to do the effam bug. And don't really care to learn. I have on occasion spawned with it but had no idea how it happened. But if someone would like to test it if you will give me a time and day to test I will get the server ready for it. If you would like to test in full server let me know and I'll see if I can round up a few willing bodies to participate.

Question to you, Does this mean you now having it running without a problem? Word from you last night was you couldn’t get it working is this still the case?
Hosting with the patch.
The patch does not care if you are a dedicated server or serving and playing. It will check you for everything the same as if you were a player. have no idea what the manager is/was doing as a result of host and server as I have not used it. Your router configuration does not need to be altered or changed from normal game hosting when using it. It does require net access through a firewall to make an http(web page) port 80 request just as your browser and that is it.
The map managing.
I have an app which will allow changing every conceivable option in the game in the game on the fly needing nothing more then a map cycle to make it effective. Started on it years, but didn’t finish it before I left. Once we have the bugs and cheating issues resolved I will finish it and release it to all. I am not planning on adding any of that functionality into this patch as I want it to do one thing and do it perfectly as fast as possible, stop the cheats!!! But rest assured will get all your goodies back plus some you didn’t have before Im done.

Truthfully I haven’t spent enough time on the td to have a good enough idea yet what I can do with it. Lmao I found out about it last week!!! And have been nose deep in the other issues thus far. But once I know Ill let everyone know.
One last note of spilling some beans as it relates to the td being fixable. I can tell you that while I may not be able to get this or a few other issues that may arise resolved with a server side only patch. I have another solution in the background over here that will in fact allow us to solve **** near any issue that comes up, best way I can describe it, it’s a home brew punkbusters. I have not done any further development with it yet but it is started and will work without a doubt. Pretty **** cool too if I do say so myself!
Please keep me posted on the workings of the patch so I can get it functioning correctly….

Got a question for you Inso. You say you will release the utilities for C4 after the bugs are fixed. The Host Manager has an option to turn the 8HAP off. Would it effect the way the patch runs if you run the Host Manager at the same time. That way a server admin still has control over changing maps, net delays and puntcrc commands. I wouldn't think it would but thought I'd ask anyway.

Im not sure, but I know how you can find out !!! LMAO try it. If it dosnt work correctly let me know and Ill see if I can get it to so you can alteast keep your admin functions until we can get these bugs fixed.
When you test this be sure to test everything it is suppose to do please
Join @8h and check health(should set to 3h)
check the cannon rounds (Round #'s 999 to 500 should be live, round #'s 499-0 should be nurf's)
Then check the efams bug(all missles of any allowable type should be nurf's)
If you want to fly without efams you must fire atleast one missle first before dropping them (if you loaded out with them) or load out without them from the farp menu!!!!
