how do I get a chopper to land and teleport people into and out of the chopper.

and whats a mod.

and how do I add sound to maps

You change the attribute on the helo to land

You cant put players or ai in the helo, you can teleport across the map to do that you use target markers and an event to trigger the teleport.

Theres a sound dialog down load you can find in the down loads here. Use it to add the single player talking dialog. If you mean wind and effects sounds you lay down sound markers.

Bigjoe11a , i've noticed you've asked editor questions on 3 different games, all on the same day , I wouldn't think it was out of the ordinary , except by the questions you are asking , do you think maybe you're trying to tackle to much at one time ?To jump from DF2 to TFD to C4 is a challenge , even for a veteran map maker.:wink1:

Yes, I know, its just when I can't go on with another map. I go on to another map for another game. I just don't have any thing else to see. I have more fun making maps for C4 then DFTFD and DF2

Since these editors all seem to have their little quarks I think it would get confusing as heck jumping back and forth. Some of the items that work in one editor certainly may not work in another.

I found the best way to make something work that I didn't understand was to look through the WAC files and see how others might have got something to work. It takes a lot of experimenting to get something right and this is true even for us experienced map makers.

If your just starting out it doesn't hurt to ask questions but at the same time it wouldn't hurt to read the manual - we have a nice one in downloads that was put together for this purpose.

All your questions can be answered but each manuver isn't just click this and set that - you have to set up the items, then set up the routines in the events list.

You have to set waypoints and then set their z values to get the chopper to go from point A to point B and then teleport AI in and then teleport them out. All this is connected to the the events and how you set them.

There are many tutorials on how to add sound to you mission - how to do most anything right here in our downloads section. Some of the custom maps come with a WAC file - open it up in the notepad and see how it looks.

The two main parts of making maps is the routine (EVENTS) and the WAC File. You can add tons of stuff on the map anywhere but with out the EVENTS list everything will just sit there and do nothing.

No such thing as can't go on with the map. You may have to do some research to get over a tough spot. But you are better off sticking out 1 map then working on varous games and game types.

The questions you are asking show you are trying to do to much at once. Even those of us mapping for years all follow certain steps when we map.
First you make the basic map, then start adding items you need to set events and wac scripts for. You set them 1 at a time and test it till the event works every time it is triggerd. Then set up the next event. If you can't get the event to work rite, take some time to rethink the application you are using. Many times, a day to 2 later you will see that by making a simple change you get the event you want.

You should also be using a test map to work out your events. Better to mess that up than a map you have spent 20 hours on. Adding sound and eye candy is the last thing you do to the map.

Your also jumping from 1 game engine to another, Try and stick with 1 game untill you master the med for that game. As an example you can do many things with wac scripts in BHD. Very few of those scripts work in C4. The helo attributes you use to land in C4 don't work in JOTR.

You will find you master mapping faster if you stay with the same map untill it is finished.

Ok, I under stand what your telling me. Well you have no idea on what I'm doing. I been making maps for over a month now. When I start a map. I have a good idea on what I want the map to do. See the problem is that I completed my first map in C4 about 3 days ago. I only been working on C4 maps for a bout a week. When I been working on DF2 maps for a month and DFTFD just for a day or two. So it's just not that I started every thing in about a day. What I don't under stand is when some one tells me how to set some thing up, and it works. then after I set up more events and more Objects and other things like cares and trucks. Then I find out that the first event I setup stops working. Well then I have to go back and try and find out what happen.

Let me ask you some thing, does it matter if you upgrade to a newer MED. If so then thats what screwing me over. Then I will have to start all over.


If not then I have no idea why I can't get some things to work.

Some meds have more stuff unlocked, But you should be able to use one med to complete the map. When an earlier event stops working it can be from numerous reasons. The first place to look is at the last event you set when the first event stops working. It may have an area trigger or another part of the first event effecting another event. You may also have to set the event to repeat, running helos and other vehicles is a good example.

When the event wont work at all. It may be because that action in the med is not enabled. None of the meds have every option you see working in them.
Many events work for single player but not coop. Many are only seen by the server machine also. There are way to many to list. The issues you are having are part of map making we all have events stop working or try to do something that wont seem to work. That is one of the reasons it takes so long to build a good map.

Also keep in mind many times you don't need the event to do what your stuck on. All you need to happen is for it to look like it did. Such as transporting ai in a vehicle. You will also find the newer game you map in the more stuff can be done in the med, or with wac files.

As a rule you do every thing for c4, BHD events in the med. You can do some stuff with wac files, how ever every player needs that wac file. JOTR was the first game where wac script doesn't have to run on the players machine.

I don't map earlier than C4, so Im not much help on those games.

Ok, How do I find out what events are unlocked. or enabled. See I still can't get a plane to fly or can I get my BH to return to base and the teleport and Other events seem to work great.

Or is there some thing I have to do in order to unlock all the Events so I can use them all.
